I am interested in statistical genetics, with one focus being ancestral relationships in populations (human, viral, etc.) and the implications of these relationships and another being statistical issues arising in research collaborations on studies of complex genetic diseases. These foci frequently overlap. I studied statistical genetics at the University of Washington as a Biostatistics PhD student with Elizabeth Thompson, and at North Carolina State University and the U.S. National Institute of Statistical Sciences as a post-doc with Bruce Weir in the Program in Statistical Genetics.
