Why study math?

Lawrence Ng

Anyone who enjoys a challenge will find an education in Mathematics at SFU to be extremely rewarding. My advice is to be prepared to work hard and to follow your interests. It's amazing how broad of a field Mathematics is and its applicability to an endless number of disciplines. Mathematics provides an excellent foundation for further studies and will give you the confidence to succeed in the workplace.

The professors in the Mathematics department at SFU are very passionate about the field. They are truly inspiring and supportive in your goals. I am thankful to have been taught by so many great professors during my time at SFU and strongly recommend the Mathematics program to anyone who is considering it.

Sincerely,

Lawrence Ng
