Mathematics Mentorship Program

To complement regular academic advising with the departmental advisor, students will have the opportunity to meet with a faculty mentor to gain additional guidance in their academic career.   Mentees (students) will be paired with a faculty mentor based on academic program and/or area of interest.  Faculty mentors will be available to:

  • Help students discover and develop their interests
  • Help students link their interests/goals with careers, programs, and upper division courses
  • For students who wish to pursue graduate studies or attend a professional school:
    • Develop an upper division course plan
    • Discuss how to obtain a (strong) recommendation letter
  • Discuss research, work, or volunteer opportunities within the field
  • Connect students with other key people in the field/department

Who should apply to become a mentee?

Students who are in good academic standing (CGPA of 2.00 or better) and have declared a major or honours program in one of the following areas may apply to be a mentee:
-    Applied Mathematics
-    Mathematics
-    MACM (Mathematics and Computing Science Joint Major)
-    Operations Research
